Celtic knots are a variety of (usually endless) knots and stilized graphic pictures of knots, used for decoration, taken over by the old Celts. These knots are most famous for decorating christian monuments and manuscripts, like the book of kells and the lindisfarne gospels. The Celtic knot is usually a knot without a beginning nor an end that symbolizes the continuity of life.<\/p>\n

A Celtic cross is the combination of a christian cross and a circle. It is a characteristic symbol of Celtic christianity and is a combination of the christian cross and a heathen sun wheel. The horizontal axis symbolizes the connection with the earth and the vertical axis the connection to heaven.<\/p>\n

travellers charm<\/a>

A travellers charm, a replica of a stone found in Gotland, Sweden. The back of this amultet has an inscription in runes, that litteraly translated means: \u201cfuture travels are protected from evil\u201d.<\/p>\n

The original spearhead was found in Dahmsdorf, Germany and dates back to about 250 a.D. The inscrption in runes points to the Rune Ranja, that literally means impaler, or right to the goal. Spearheads were considered to be very powerful amulets.<\/p>\n

Triskelion <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

(also trinacrie <\/strong>or triskele, based on the Old Greek: \u201cthreelegged\u201d<\/strong>) is a symbol with three bent human legs, or, more generally, three connected spirals. The symbol with a threefold rotationsymetrical depiction of a wheel with three legs or three legs in a triangle has been a beloved since ancient times and is used in heraldry and emblemata. No matter how the figure is twisted, it will never kneel. The triskelion is representative of being unbending and free.<\/p>\n

Fibula <\/strong><\/a>

The original fibula is a replica of the original fibulas that were originally worn by the Celts and \/ or the Romans on the shoulder(s) by sticking the pin through the fabric and twisting the circle. It of course also can be used as a very original piercing! (just kidding)<\/p>\n

Large round kind of buckle to drape gowns through. Gives that special classical medieval finish to your outfit. Spirals, stairpatterns and keypatterns are dominant motives in Celtic art before the christian influence on the Celts, that started around the year 450. These designs found their way into the early christian manuscripts and works of art by adding images of life, like animals, plants and even people.<\/p>\n

The Tree of Life represents the center of the universe and the four axes (compas points) around which everything evolves. Man as a spiritual being has a center as well, the center of your heart (yax\u2019kin) corresponds with the core of your inner tree of life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tree is a perfect symbol for life itself in the first place. With it\u2019s roots in the earth it is in contact with the world below. With it\u2019s branches it reaches to the sky. It is a middleman between gods and humans.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Furthermore the tree of life symbolises the eternal life: budding in spring, growing in summer, fruit and decay in the fall and rest during winter. The circle is round year in year out. The tree of life is to be found as a decoration in windows of farmyards, especially in windows above the front door. Placed there it is supposed to ward off evil spirits.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unicorn <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Unicorn means power, cleansing, healing, wisdom, knowledge of self, rejuvination and eternal life. Origins: in the 4th century b.C. the Greek historian Ctesias spoke of a wild animal with healing powers and a twisted horn on the front of it\u2019s head. Medieval myths mention that the animal could only be caught with help of a virgin that had befriended the animal.<\/p>\n

Chalice well

\n<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

A holy geometrical sign. It symbolizes the circle in which everything is present. The 2 inner circles symbolize the male as well as the female, day and night and light and darkness! Divided by a (bloody) spear, the male joining together with the female.<\/p>\n

The water contains iron and leaves a red colour where it flows, therefore the bloody spear. Also known from ancient days \/ Christianity, tales of Josef of Arimethea and Mary Magdalene that took the chalice of the last supper to Avalon and buried it in Chalice Hill.<\/p>\n

These days the Chalice Well is a much visited place of quiet and love for many as well as for healing, the relaxing gardens are a pleasure for the eye and the well is a beloved place for meditation and integration!!<\/p>\n

Love spoons

For centuries young men from Wales cut special spoons from wood during long winter evenings, by which they declared their love to girls and meant to convince their prospective father in law of their craftsmanship. These \u201cLove spoons\u201d are a symbol for a life in health and happiness. With these love spoons as a gift for your lover your dreams will come true.<\/p>\n

Blessed be<\/a><\/strong>

According to legends, the alphabeth of the oghams came into existence because of the celtic god Ogmios, God of wisdom. Ogham characters have only been found on the British isles. A central vertical stem on which short stems were crossed to the right or to the left. Most of the inscriptions were magical, some of them memorial or a plea to the gods. This amulet means: \u201cblessed be\u201d a greeting, farewell and\/or a blessing in the wicca tradition.<\/p>\n
