The complicated process of applying hot glass glaze is an ancient art that has been passed down through the ages. Each piece is hand enameled with fine glass powder. First of all, each item is thoroughly prepared and cleaned to remove any contamination. The glass powder is ground in a mortar mixed with water and then painted into each area, taking care not to overshoot. This is then dried and baked in an oven at 800 degrees Celsius. Sometimes the item is fired twice to achieve the correct colors.
